Associate Professor Elizabeth Elliott

Director
Professor Elizabeth Elliott MBBS MD FRACP FRCP FRCPCH is an Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sydney and Consultant Paediatrician at The Children's Hospital at Westmead. She trained in paediatric gastroenterology and her MD thesis on "Oral Rehydration Therapy : a reappraisal" was conducted at St Bartholomew's Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital for Children in London. This included randomised controlled trials on oral rehydration solutions in children with gastroenteritis and use of human and animal gut perfusion models to determine the optimal composition of oral rehydration solutions. Prof Elliott founded CEBPGAN in 2001 and is involved in running EBM courses nationally. She has published extensively both in paediatric gastroenterology and EBM and is Senior Associate Editor of an international text titled "Evidence Based Pediatrics and Child Health", published in 2000 by BMJ Books, the second edition of which is going to publish in May 2004. She is a co-author of the recently published "Scientific Writing : easy when you know how" (BMJ books 2002) which is also released as an e-book.

Diana Thomas

Scientific Director
Dr Diana Thomas BSc(Hons) PhD ATCL is the Scientific Director of CEBPGAN and co-ordinates the running of the Centre's activities. She organises and tutors at the CEBPGAN evidence-based workshops and is conducting a number of systematic reviews for the Cochrane Collaboration on subjects such as the effect of exercise on type 2 diabetes and the effects of low glycemic index diets on obesity and on diabetes. She obtained her PhD on exercise and the glycemic index of foods in the Human Nutrition Unit of the School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences at the University of Sydney and is particularly interested in the role of nutrition in the prevention and curing of illnesses.

Renata Kukuruzovic

Assistant Director

Dr Renata Kukuruzovic MBBS FRACP is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Melbourne and a Staff Specialist at Royal Children's Hospital at Melbourne. She is trained as a paediatric gastroenterologist and her PhD was conducted in Darwin and titled Diarrhoea in Aboriginal Children. Renata Lectures on Evidence Based Medicine and she is a co-author of 2 systematic reviews: "Antibiotics for Cholangitis" and "Non-surgical Interventions for Eosinophilic oesophagitis" which are published as protocols in Cochrane Library.

Research Librarian
Mrs Sunita Chauhan B.Lib.I.Sc is trained in Librarianship with experience as a medical librarian. She is responsible for literature searching, reference and database management and educating clinicians on literature searching. She assists in the data analysis and the systematic reviews and also has designed the CEBPGAN website.
