2001
CEBPGAN has run two successful courses in Evidence-Based Paediatrics and Evidence-Based Nutrition in 2001.
- Two day course "Evidence-Based Paediatrics in the New Millennium" was run in collaboration with the University of Sydney's Dept of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2001. The guest tutor was Professor Virginia Moyer, A/Professor of Pediatrics and Epidemiology and Associate Director, Center for Population Health and Evidence-Based Medicine, University of Texas, USA. It was attended by paediatricians
from throughout Australia and New Zealand.
- A half-day course "Evidence-Based Nutrition" in a national "Paediatric Dietitians Workshop" was held in Sydney in Nov 2001. Participants included all heads of Paediatric Dietetics Departments in Australia.
- Professor Anne Griffiths visited Australia in April/May 2002. This was a particular highlight for the unit. Anne is a paediatric gastroenterologist with a particular interest in nutritional management of inflammatory bowel disease and evidence-based medicine. She gave a series of seminars around the country (Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide) to large audiences and with high acclaim.
- Anne was also guest speaker for the Paediatric Research Society of Australia and New Zealand and spoke on "Inflammatory bowel disease: art and science" at the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Brisbane, May 6th-8th.
